Relate offers sex therapy for couples and/or individuals who are experiencing specific sexual problems. Our sex therapists work with purely psychological and emotional issues rather than the physical implications sex therapy may acquire. We ask that all clients visit their GPs if there are any physical distresses.

People often find it embarrassing to talk about problems involving their sex life with their partner. Sexual problems in relationships are very common and can include loss of desire, impotence and physical disabilities. Nevertheless, the causes and effects of sexual difficulties are highly complex and vary widely from person to person and couple to couple.

Our specialist sex therapists have years of experience and understand how these and other issues can impact your relationship. They help you identify and address underlying issues first. The sessions are individually tailored to you and help you overcome your difficulties and rediscover the pleasures of a good physical relationship. You will be asked to work on certain tasks in the privacy of your own home.

Some of the more common problems Relate helps with include :

For women:

  • Loss of desire
  • Having difficulty reaching orgasm
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Contractions of the muscles around the vagina (vaginismus) which make intercourse impossible

For men:

  • Loss of desire
  • Problems controlling ejaculation or in reaching orgasm
  • Not always being able to get or maintain an erection even when you would like to
